Feuding Over Heath Ledger's Estate Begins Within Ledger Family

Heath Ledger's uncles are speaking out against his father Kim's handling of the actor's assets, saying Kim has a bad track record of estate management. Heath's father so mishandled the management of their grandfather's estate 15 years ago in Australia that Kim was removed as executor, the uncles claim. "It plunged into enormous debt," Mike Ledger, one of Kim's brothers, tells PEOPLE.

Heath died in January at age 28 of an accidental mixture of prescription drugs – leaving behind a daughter, Matilda, by his ex, actress Michelle Williams. His will, written before his relationship with Michelle, leaves everything to his parents and sisters. Heath's uncle Mike insists the family has nothing to gain by removing Kim: "Our only vested interest is to assure that Matilda is well looked after."

Mike added that Kim's recent statement that Matilda "will be taken care of" was not enough assurance. "When you are talking about large sums of money like this," he says, "it should be an independent executor, but Kim hasn't chosen that way." Another of Kim's brothers, Hayden, tells PEOPLE that Michelle's father, Larry, asked him if Kim was capable of managing the actor's estate. "I just said, 'No, not if he handles it like ours,' " he says.

The bitter dispute among the brothers dates back more than 15 years, when Kim became an executor of their grandfather Sir Frank Ledger's estate, which they estimate was worth about $2 million in the mid 1980s. The family patriarch was a respected engineer in Perth.

According to the newspaper The Australian, Frank's daughters filed a motion in Supreme Court asking to have Kim removed as the executor. The submission to the court stated that Kim's handling of his grandfather's estate "placed the assets at risk." A report in Australia's The Sunday Times says that a Supreme Court judge eventually removed Kim from overseeing the estate.

Robert John Collins – an Australian executor of Heath's will who has known the Ledger family for 30 years – said last week that Mike and Hayden's allegations about Kim were "rubbish." Kim and his brothers have remained estranged since the dispute. In fact, Mike says that 17 family members weren't even invited to attend Heath's memorial and funeral in Perth. "I'm his godfather," Mike says. "We didn't even have the ability or the opportunity to pay our last respects to Heath. And I tell you, that is terrible – that is so sad."

Heather Mills Is A Wealthy Woman After Divorce Settlement Is Reached

Speaking on the steps of the High Court in London Monday, Heather Mills declared herself "so, so happy" with her nearly $50 million divorce settlement from Paul McCartney. The ex-wife of the former Beatle said she was "just glad it was over," referring to the long-running and often acrimonious split.

Paul upon exiting the court in an indifferent mood, merely said to waiting reporters, "All will be revealed." Heather explained: "I am standing here because Paul is insistent on the whole judgment being put out. I've said that if the whole judgment goes out then all the transcripts have to go out because it's going to be written in a way that they will try and make it that I wasn't successful."

The summary states that the judge decided Paul should pay Heather a lump sum of around $33 million, which together with existing assets of around $15 million means she will gain a divorce totaling nearly $50 million. The judge deemed that she had overspent during nearly two years of separation by $1 million.

Paul, who has long been estimated to be worth $1.7 billion, was found by the judge to only have assets of half that figure. The couple, who were married for just under four years, were not allowed to raise the issue of alleged misconduct, since the judge considered such details irrelevant.

The judge calculated Heather’s annual income needs at about $1.2 million and included a sum of $5 million for her to buy a property in London. A provision for daughter Beatrice consisting of periodical $70,000 payments was included, and Paul has agreed to pay for her nanny and school fees.

Of the provision, Paul said, "Beatrice only gets $70,000 a year so she is obviously meant to travel B class while her father travels A class. But obviously I will pay for that." The court has imposed a blanket order preventing disclosure of details revealed during the court case and in documents tendered to the court.

Halle first announced her pregnancy in September last year, when she was three months along. During her pregnancy, the Oscar, Emmy and Razzie winner told InStyle she felt "fantastic" thanks to eating right and keeping fit with yoga, swimming, light weights and an elliptical machine. "Right now I just have so much joy and energy," she said. "I can just go and go and go."

Sam Luffi Staying Away From Britney Longer

Britney Spears's former confidante, Sam Lutfi, has agreed to stay away from the singer for an additional month. The temporary restraining order placed against him last month was set to expire Monday. It appears the deal was struck as a way of warding off a courtroom confrontation with Britney's parents. (The court is expected to approve the extension.)

Britney's mother, Lynne, previously accused Lutfi of drugging and verbally abusing her daughter. (Los Angeles police have said they are considering the claims.) Based on evidence presented in court, a restraining order can be extended for up to five years, legal experts say. "In order to have a restraining order dropped, Lutfi would have to convince the judge that all the evidence against him being a threat to the family is wrong," says L.A. family lawyer Scott Weston, who is not involved in the case.

Britney Dines With Mel Gibson On Saturday

On Saturday Britney Spears started the day with another visit from her sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 18 months, and ended the evening at a Russian restaurant for a dinner meeting with Mel Gibson. The actor and the pop star – once neighbors in an exclusive Malibu community – were part of a two-hour group dinner at the Romanov restaurant in Studio City on Saturday. "It was exciting to have both of them here together," says one restaurant source. "We heard they hit it off and that Britney seemed excited."

Clad in jeans, a green top and boots and chewing gum, Britney arrived at the Romanov restaurant with her friend Victoria. Mel, accompanied by a few friends, soon joined them in the restaurant's private dining room, which features a 24-karat gold leaf ceiling, an ornate fireplace and a library stocked with such works as Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace. For two hours the group dined on filet mignon and Russian specialties, and drank water and soft drinks. Leaving the restaurant for her Studio City home around 8:15, Britney "looked happy," says an observer, "so it seems the meeting was a success."

Michelle Williams And Naomi Watts Talk About The Death Of Heath Ledger

It’s been almost two months since Heath Ledger’s tragic death and for the first time two of his greatest loves, Michelle Williams and Naomi Watts, are speaking about the late actor and the impact he made on their lives. In the new issue of Interview magazine, Michelle says, "For as long as I'd known him, he had bouts with insomnia. He just had too much energy,” regarding the prescription sleeping pills that were partially to blame for his accidental death. “His mind was turning, turning, turning — always turning. He had an uncontrollable energy. He buzzed. He would jump out of bed.”

Naomi laments the loss of her ex-boyfriend on a personal level, and also a professional one. "His acting was just so touching, so connected in truth. I think he was just getting started,” she says in the new issue. Michelle notes that his talent for tapping into the heart of his characters was much more closely tied to his emotions than the public thought. "I think that the interesting thing about Heath, which maybe people have only really fully discovered in his death, his how vulnerable he was,” the Michelle says. "You can pick up on it in his performances, but it's easy to overlook because he was so physical and beautiful and strong and masculine. But there was always that underlying sensitivity. That's who he was."

Also interviewed in the issue are Ellen DeGeneres, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Sean Penn and his I’m Not There director Todd Haynes.

A 90210 Spinoff In The Works For The CW Network

The CW is developing a contemporary spinoff of Aaron Spelling's seminal 1990s teen soap Beverly Hills, 90210. Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas is in talks to pen the project, which has been put on the fast track by the network. Details about the spinoff -- including which if any of the characters on the original series will make the transition to the new show -- remain sketchy. CW is expected to make a decision whether to order a pilot by the end of the month.

The spinoff is being produced by CBS Paramount Network TV, which absorbed original series producer Spelling TV two years ago. Sources said 90210 creator Darren Star is not involved. CAA, which packaged the original 90210, is said to have been the mastermind behind the idea of spinning off the hit series. The spinoff would bring Thomas back to CW, where his acclaimed series Veronica Mars ended its three-year run last spring.

This would be the second spinoff from 90210, which aired on Fox from 1990-2000. The Star-created Melrose Place had a successful seven-year run on Fox. It didn't feature any major characters from 90210. A teen soap about privileged youths living in Beverly Hills would be a perfect companion to CW's buzzworthy freshman drama Gossip Girl, which revolves around rich teens living in Manhattan.

Spinoffs are hot this development season. Fox is developing two: Cleveland, centered on the Cleveland Brown character from the hit animated comedy Family Guy, and a Prison Break offshoot set at a female prison. Last year, ABC spun off its medical juggernaut Grey's Anatomy into Private Practice.

Angie And Brad Buy A Home In France

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their brood may be saying bien-venue to France! The duo – who set up a temporary home in Namibia in 2006 in anticipation of the birth of Shiloh, 21 months – have made an offer on an 850-year-old stone house in Eygalieres, in the country's Provence region, a real estate source tells Us Weekly.

Brad and Angie– who has taken her baby bump everywhere from Texas to Baghdad – originally looked at the $20 million, fully renovated structure (official name: Mas de la Chapelle St. Sixte) last year, the source tells Us, but lost interest when they learned Brad would not be given consent to build a motorbike circuit on the five-acre garden. "As soon as they found out it was now possible, they jumped at the chance," the source tells Us.

The couple may be eyeing the home as a place to settle after Angie– whose mother was of French Canadian descent – gives birth to her next baby (she is due in early summer). Angie has had "long conversations" with the American Hospital of Paris about delivering there, a second source tells Us. "Angelina knows all about our reputation," says the hospital source. "She is certain she'd be happy giving birth here." Angelina has been spending time in Austin, Texas while Brad films Tree of Life nearby.
