Michelle Williams And Daughter Matilda Out In NYC

On the very streets they used to amble along with Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams and daughter Matilda went for a low-key stroll in their Brooklyn neighborhood yesterday in a modest attempt at getting their life back to normal. Michelle and their 2-year-old took the short three-block walk to Victory Cafe with Michelle's mom and friends, who've been on hand to help the mourning pair since Heath died of an unintentional overdose last month.

With the pensive yet timid gaze of her father's, a bundled up Matilda walked slowly, holding tight to her mother's hand. She wore an ear-flapped tasseled hat not unlike the wacky, textured accessories Heath was known for.

The Hollywood stars adopted Brooklyn as their home after wrapping Brokeback Mountain in 2005 and could be seen on any afternoon picking up dry cleaning, riding bicycles or people-watching from their porch. The happy family bought a double-wide brownstone in Boerum Hill in 2005.

Michelle and Matilda still live in the house the proud parents once decided to paint green in solidarity with their neighbors for a more sustainable neighborhood. The couple split in September 2007, but Michelle referred to her ex-fiancé as her husband in a rare moment in 2006: "My husband Heath and I moved to Brooklyn for light and space and air."

I always wondered if they married in secret. I am guessing if they did Michelle will keep that to herself. I guess we will never know.
