Jesse L. Martin Leaving "Law And Order"

Longtime Law & Order actor Jesse L. Martin is leaving the show after nearly 10 years. Anthony Anderson, who has appeared on the Law & Order spinoff Special Victims Unit and also starred in the short-lived Fox drama K-Ville, is in talks to replace Jesse, the Associated Press reports. A source tells the AP that Jesse’s last show as New York Police Detective Ed Green will air this spring. The episode will explain the departure of his character.

Jesse is leaving the show to turn his attention to the big screen. Filming for his next role is as singer Marvin Gaye in the bio-flick Sexual Healing – co-starring The Sopranos’ James Gandolfini – begins this spring. Jesse also appeared in the movie version of Rent. He was an original cast member in the Broadway production of the play.

Well, he is the last detective on the original series that I liked. I am a big Lennie Brisco fan and it was so hard to see him go, but with Jesse still there I could except Detective Fontana. Now the show is just going to be crap.
