Fires Take Out Celebrity Homes In Malibu

Fires are forcing celebrities who live in Malibu, California out of their homes. The fire is believed to have started when arcing power lines, downed by fierce Santa Ana winds, ignited dry brush around 5:00 AM Sunday. California has had one of the worst droughts in years, leaving hillsides especially vulnerable to brushfires. Over 1000 acres and numerous structures have already burned. More than 500 firefighters from all over the area are fighting the flames -- still being fanned by gusting winds, which are expected to continue for several days. Roughly 200 homes have been evacuated.

Celebrities who live in Malibu and Carbon Beach that are in danger of losing their homes are: Jennifer Aniston, Sting, Bill Murray, Nick Nolte, Robin Wright Penn, Mel Brooks, Howie Mandel, Tatum O'Neal, Rob Reiner, Goldie Hawn, Linda Ronstadt, Jeff Bridges, David Arquette and Courteney Cox, David Geffen, Jeffrey Katzenberg,Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Mark Hamill, Sean Penn and David Duchovny.

Malibu resident and country music star Tanya Tucker was not in Malibu during the fire today -- but her 18-year-old daughter was. Tucker is currently in Las Vegas, but called in to KCOP-TV in Los Angeles. Her daughter, Presley, had to be evacuated from the family home, along with Tanya's four dogs. Tanya said that her daughter described the scene in Malibu as "very chaotic."

TMZ is reporting that the LG House Malibu, which was home to several Hollywood parties this summer, is on fire. Their reporter on the scene reports that the fire was confined to the deck and a part of the house out back that completely collapsed. Also, a house that was about 15 or so homes north of the LG House burned completely to the ground.
