Box Office Weekend Shockers

There were some shockers at the box office this weekend. Josh Hartnett's vampire flick, 30 Days of Night, was number one at the box office with $16 million. The horror film took the bite out of all the A-listers' buzzed-about dramas. Which surprises me because I have never even heard of this movie.

One movie I expected to do well did. Ben Affleck's critically-acclaimed directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, opened at No. 5, with $6 million. I have to say I might have to check it out. The latest Halle Berry drama, Things We Lost in the Fire, didn't even crack the top 10 which is a shocker considering she is such a big star.

But the biggest shock though is Rendition, the political drama that brought together Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon. It only clocked in at No. 9. with a dismal $4.2 million. Could it because they are hiding their romance and that they avoided eye contact on the red carpet at the movie premiere?
