Paris Hilton On House Arrest

Paris Hilton has been reassigned from jail to her home, where she will wear an electronic monitoring device. Hilton was reassigned for medical reasons, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. spokesperson Steve Whitmore said at a press conference Thursday. He would not provide further details, citing privacy laws. The truth of Paris’ illness is that it was mental not physical. Paris was close to having a mental breakdown. Dr. Sophy's psychological evaluation helped the county jail medical team and the sheriff make the choice to send Paris home. Whitmore said Hilton was released shortly after midnight on Thursday. Paris began her sentence Sunday night at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, south of Los Angeles. The heiress was sentenced to 45 days in jail for violating her probation by driving with a suspended license. Amid speculation that she would actually serve much less time due to prison overcrowding, police said she would spend at least 23 days behind bars. Paris will be on house arrest for 40 days. She is doing more days because she is not in jail.
