Marie Osmond is getting a divorce from her husband of more than 20 years, Brian Blosil. The couple released this statement: "Though our marriage is ending, we continue to have a very amicable relationship. Our marriage has always been a faithful one, and neither of us is assigning fault for the divorce. Our children, as always, are our top priority and in our deep love for them we will continue to jointly fulfill our roles as active parents in their daily lives." The couple raised eight children. Five are adopted and one is from Marie's first marriage. The couple face hard times before when they seperated in 1998 for several months. Marie has faced tough times in the press before. In 2001 she published a book about her stuggle with postpartum depression. She stood by the side of Brooke Shields during her battle against Tom Cruise who disagreed with the treatment of anti-depressants that Brooke spoke of in her book about her own battle with the disease. Osmond told People, "When Tom becomes a woman and has a baby and has postpartum, then he can become an expert." Marie also had to explain why she was hospitalized last summer when the media reported she had attempted suicide. It turns out she had a bad reation to a medication. Marie's career started back in the 1970's when she was a country music star and she later starred on The Donny and Marie Show with her brother, Donny Osmond.

Why did Marie have to announce this on the opening day of the Mormon Church General Conference (March 31, 2007). Has she no respect for all the godly saints who refuse divorce amidst hardships? Maybe it has something to do with her daughter abandoning Mormonism, moving to California, and making a MySpace site where she calls herself the F-bomb.
